What's the Story Morning Glory?

Not much really, I seem to have hit that 'let's pick up every bug going' part of my life... so I'm practicing a little self care. That doesn't mean stuffing my face with chocolate, it means eating healthily, getting plenty of sleep and doing some lower impact exercise. Keeping active is the key, if I stop doing everything then I don't want to start again, and that has kind of happened with running... so I'm making a commitment. I'm starting c25k again this week. Has to be done, I feel so much better when I run. What have I replaced running with? Walking, always a healthy lower impact alternative and a local low impact SOCA class. I'm loving that, lots of waist work, your abs can kill the next day, but in a good way!

So my commitments for this week-
3 week 1 c25k runs
low impact SOCA class
no chocolate, crisps or sweets
track my food intake
at least 7k steps every day
at least 20 minutes of active or aerobic activity every day
restart my 15 minutes wake up yoga.

As a chunky runner, I've been trying curvy yoga- this little 15 minute routine I found a lovely start to my day.

So.… that's the plan, I'll let you know how I get on.

Namaste!

Time to Catch Up

Told you I was a bad blogger! It's been about 2 weeks from my last post and I haven't been running during that time. I have, however, been doing what I need to do to look after my health. It's, possibly, the only bit of summer we are likely to get and I came down with laryngitis, blocked sinuses and chesty cough.  Typical! That's what I get for bragging that the flu jab seems to have kept everything at bay. I was off work for a few days, and so tired that the very idea of running was mythical. Due to the cough medicine (3 bottles!), and cough sweets (don't ask... but a word of warning, eating too many does funny things to your tummy) my weight is going up. But it's only a couple of pounds and I seem to be on the mend now. Still have the sneezes, the rattling cough and the blocked nose, but thy are becoming less frequent and I'm now sleeping through the night again. Anyway- back to my goal of getting fit. It wasn't a run, but I did take myself out for a...

Can Run, Will Run!

Last year I took up running, I lost 2.5st, my resting heart rate dropped to 55bpm and I could run 5k in 45 minutes. Winter came, and I stopped running. Spring has sprung and now I am determined to recover my fitness. This is my story, my account and accountability. I can't promise to set the world on fire, but I am working on getting go faster stripes on my trainers. My purpose it to share my journey with the hope that it might help others. Life can be challenging, we all deserve to have something which makes us feel free and as if we could conquer the world. Surprisingly, for me that turned out to be running. The first time I was able to run for 5 minutes I cried. Genuinely. Good thing I had sunglasses on as I am certain the dog walkers would have thought something was wrong. I am a chunky runner and proud of it, who says fat girls can't run.... no-one! We can, we all run at our own pace and that is my mission, to run my own race at my own pace. A number of people have asked...
